Arpe del Mondo, created and directed by harpist Raoul Moretti, is an international harp festival, unique in Europe. Now in its eleventh edition in 2025, the festival stems from Moretti’s experiences performing at festivals worldwide, with the aim of celebrating musical traditions tied to the harp, with a special focus on the rich cultural heritage of South America, while promoting innovative projects that explore the contemporary possibilities of this ancient instrument.
A Unique Festival in the European Landscape
Arpe del Mondo stands out as the most significant harp festival in Italy and one of the leading events of its kind in Europe, thanks to its original artistic vision and its ability to blend tradition with innovation. Beyond offering concerts, the festival creates a comprehensive cultural experience, including encounters with students from schools of all levels, masterclasses led by world-renowned harpists, and a strong emphasis on the hospitality of artists, fostering intercultural dialogue and warm hospitality.
A Widespread Event Across Sardinia
Produced by the Ente Concerti Città di Iglesias, in collaboration with international and local partners, Arpe del Mondo takes place throughout Sardinia, with its vibrant epicenter in Cagliari. Over its first ten editions, the festival has hosted approximately 80 events in a remarkable variety of venues: theaters, squares, streets, balconies, botanical gardens, pubs, cultural centers, and schools. These often unconventional locations transform the musical experience into moments of connection and discovery, engaging a diverse audience of around 20,000 spectators. The eleventh edition in 2025 promises to further expand this network, with new events and venues that will continue to celebrate Sardinia’s cultural heritage.
A Bridge Between Cultures
Arpe del Mondo has welcomed over 60 artists from across the globe, representing countries such as Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, Spain, the United States, Serbia, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Croatia, Turkey, Egypt, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Gambia, China, Japan, and Australia. This mosaic of cultures reflects the universality of the harp, an instrument that transcends geographical and temporal boundaries, uniting tradition and modernity. In 2025, the festival will continue to host international talents, enriching its program with fresh musical perspectives.
A Holistic Cultural Experience
Beyond its concerts, the festival is distinguished by its educational and social commitment. Encounters with students allow young people to discover the harp’s versatility and history, while masterclasses provide advanced training opportunities for emerging musicians. The choice of unconventional venues, such as botanical gardens or balconies, creates an intimate and engaging atmosphere, making each event a unique experience.
A Future of Growth and Innovation
With its eleventh edition in 2025, Arpe del Mondo solidifies its role as a benchmark for lovers of the harp and ethnic and contemporary music. The festival not only celebrates the richness of global musical traditions but also looks to the future, promoting new talents and experimental projects that push the boundaries of the harp’s expressiveness.
